Richard A. Dienst served as counsel to the Federal Bureau of Investigation Agents Association, National Association of Federal Agents and Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association Foundation, where he defends law enforcement officials in civil matters ranging from line-of-duty accidents and personal injury matters to civil rights violations and criminal defense cases.
For more than 30 years, Richard A. Dienst served as counsel to the New York City Police Department Detectives Endowment Association, Lieutenants Benevolent Association and Captains Endowment Association. He defended some of the highest ranking members of the NYPD concerning investigations and allegations of official misconduct before the Knapp Commission, the Office of the Special State Prosecutor and the Mollen Commission.
Richard A. Dienst’s extensive private litigation experience includes defending corporations such as the Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company, Inc. (A&P), Madison Square Garden and self-insured taxicab fleets in actions for negligence and personal injury. He currently defends the Incorporated Village of Hempstead concerning tort claims. Additionally, he has represented many individuals and businesses on matters such as employment defense, criminal and white collar defense, contract disputes, medical malpractice and tort actions.
In the field of labor relations, he serves as counsel to management and officials of labor unions. He also serves as personal counsel and advisor to government officials, professional athletes and leaders in the fields of insurance, finance and philanthropy.
Richard A. Dienst regularly argues civil appeals to the highest state and federal courts. His successful appeals have been reported as novel and have led to the creation of new rights and remedies for his clients.
